Most good tool shops can source Whitworth spanners & sockets but I'm not sure about impact sockets.
Secondhand on Ebay or search overseas ?
Are they for working on Land Rovers ?

Hi everyone
I've been looking to buy a Whitworth impact socket set but have not been able to find any for sale here in Australia - does anyone know where I might be able to find them?
Thanks
Wayne

Hi Colin, yes I'm "restoring" a 1958 109". I can find suppliers overseas but was hoping to buy locally and reduce freight costs. Postage costs at the moment for parts etc from the UK can at times be almost as much as the cost of the product itself. I haven't been able to find anything in Australia searching online so I'm hoping the forum members may have some insights.
Thanks
Wayne
Few on Ebay.

I use my regular Whitworth sockets. I have yet to break any. All of these have been bought cheaply from clearing sales and opshops, and I have spares, so the possibility of breaking them is not an issue.
I have difficulty in thinking of anything on a Series Landrover that is likely to break a regular socket before the bolt/stud breaks (which is a moderately regular occurrence when trying to undo something that has been done up for many decades and stored in the weather!)

If you already have metric and a/f sockets they will cover every size you need.
As others have said, why do you want impact sockets?
the drives on Whitworth sockets may not be interchangeable with metric/af as the whitworth bars and ratchet were originally imperial size too.
try a local sunday market, you may find what you want
As already said you won't need impact sockets , & your money would be better off spent on parts for your restoration . The Whitworth sockets I am using are 55 years old from when I 1st started my as a apprentice motor mechanic so have had plenty of use over the years , have only had to replace a 1/4W because I lost it .
which size wont they cover?
You had me wonder if there was a cross reference chart
A google search brought up a few
It seems there are a few gaps, especially
