The vendor has known about it for 15 years and just after acquiring it decided to buy a 130. Unfortunately his wife suggested it's either not both.
So out goes the 80", a bit sad really.
We checked the Grenville Motors books and the numbers are correct and original. What a great project for someone who wants one of the first 3000 vehicles and not one of the tens of thousands that came in the years after 1949. Just the horn button has to be worth a few hundred, and still having those oh so rare Grenville badges on the front LHS makes it even better.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Yes, but what happens if you have to find a 'thingamybob' that only fits a 48 model .
For the life of me , I cannot work out how 2 dollars worth of bakelite can sell for hundreds of dollars....why can't somebody make up a die and produce a run of a few thousand . MG and other cars have a active repro industry. Why not series 1's?

I was surprised it didn't go to the UK .. or did it ? It was a fair deal .. if I had the money I would have paid that . His other 'everyday driver' was also, apparently a good buy . These days, 4k doesn't go far when your restoring a car- it did need some work .. but not a full re-build . Although it is hard to tell without seeing it .. the motor could have been tired - 20 year old reco job. I would prefer a wide front spring job ( which i dont have ) for an everyday driver .. more stability and less of the wandering around the lane syndrome. I've been at high speed in both narrow and wide front spring 80" ... and the difference is there to notice .
