    Hi there all

In regards to reply post above:

There has been alot of discussion concerning tyres for the old series ones, they are available in Australia through a company called Australian Tyre Traders:

    ** Australian Tyre Traders ** 1300 761 802 **

I just purchased 700 x 16 lug tyres for the Fire Tender - with tubes for less than $120 each (fitted and ballanced)
They are now fitted to the series one Fire Tender - SUMO TS888 - 700 x 16 tyres (see attached picture), my inital impressions they ride well and look the part.

    All the best

    Wayne

So you're saying John that the Michelin Synchrones I have on Leon are possibly not vintage enough

Wayne, these are similar tread pattern to the old Bridgestone Jeep Service and Goodyear Custom Extra Grip Hi Miler. Should work well on the Fire Engine.

I remember having Winter tread (can't remember brand) tyres on the old Kombi and they were a similar pattern also.

    Hi there Numpty

They are not the tyres I originally ordered - but I am very happy with them, also since putting them on I a couple of friends are also ordering some for there vehicles.

They do have a very harsh tread pattern - and it not as if you have to worry about road noise as you are driving a Land Rover.

    All the best

I recently ordered 4 Dunlop RTM's in 7.00 x 16. Price was $165 each fitted, balanced and with new tube.
Got a price from Beaurepairs of $220 each fitted then found a company in Frankston that are obviously more interested in my business.

Dunlop are currently out-of-stock but 100 arrive late February, a number were already backordered (maybe other LR's heading for Cooma ?)

I have an Roadtrack Major on the S1 with excellent tread that will be used as a spare. This is 6-ply but the current RTM's are 8-ply. They are a crossply tyre which is in keeping with what was originally fitted but maybe you can take originality too far sometimes.........
