I've got one of our S1s (49 model with narrow springs) back in action. Sadly it has a 173 GMH in it now so has lost originality and I can't track down the original Motor. I do have a 2ltr here though. I look at some of your S1s and makes me want to restore this one. My grandfather got it new so has all our history and lots of pics and storys with it and I am still on the original property she started her life on and worked hard as were no dozer tracks in those days. They even put snow chains on it and tied fence post on it for balast on side slopes
Its body is now in poor condition and chassis has had front X member moved for GMH. Also the lamp style Head lights are gone
The other S1 here is a 51 and is in much better shape. It has been here since new aswell. I like the 49 as they have more charater and are rare.

May have had a hard working life, but that is their charm - have been working for 60 (59) years and now time for retirement. So what that they have had a heart transplant.

Opps maybe i meant not as tidy. Sure has had a long working life . the GMH went in in 1982 and continued use here fencing and spraying till 2006. Only reason it has been stood down is a broken brake pipe and jumping out of 2nd gear. I put a swivel kit and seals in it not long before. The CVs are very different to the later series as some of you know.
I'm not sure what to do with it yet. Fix it as is or full restoration. Would be a big job but likely possible. I'm not real keen on the GMH Engine being in it.Far to snarly compared to a 1.6 of 2ltr. Any one good with aluminium

Notice the dip sw is missing off the steerig wheel. Now has a late s1 steering wheel. Not the same. I need Parts that may be hard to find.
I have a short movie on phone cam as well but I have never tried to upload movies with my sat internet as chews band with. Have a few more pics and some history. Also have a Old Movie clips back in mid 50s + Old photoes that I need to scan.
Briefly It was the 2nd LR here as My great grandfather got a 48 model (Ring pull 4x4) They traded it up on the 49 model in November 1949 as the 48 was prone to water in the gear box as in those days there was no roads or bridges here so did a lot of wadeing. Seems to be a lot said about the fuel pumpOn one ocasion they took the bonet off and some one had to sit on the guard and Tap the pump to get home
