Hopefully the move South isnt too close, we need you guys up here to keep the Southerners honest.
No it didnt have seats. I was hoping the old ones i took out of Elsa would be right but they are the later fold down backs hmmmm........ Haven't really thought about seats yet. I guess i could easily use the old bases i have. As to the sprung backs well i dont know what i am going to do there. Have you guys had any plans for what yo are doing for seats with your 80.

Well ive done some research using this site
http://www.lrsoc.com/forum/index.php...iew;article=24
which has revealed my 80 inch (car no. 06101688) was dispatched from the factory between the end of August to the beginning of November 1949.
Mine has the fishtail bumper mounts, early voltage regulator, early drawbar and riveted gear leaver cover. So its a 1950 model probably dispatched around September 1949. I think Diana was right on the money with that one.
Still cant sus out what colour she would have been (light or dark), original is long gone. Slowly continuing the strip down and still trying to get the steering wheel off.
Hi thanks for using and recomending my pages on the S1 forum,
Your vehicle R06101688 was destpatched 'In' 13/09/1949 and despatched 'out' on 11/10/1949 to Annund and Thompson, Brisbane. It was a batch of 44 vehicles and just before the CKD stage so all were assembled in England, including yours apart from, R06101685 and R06101686 which were CKD's and obviously some sort of trial pair as CKD's were away usually in lots of 6. So it would have been dark green, no doubt about that. Enjoy

		hey Mick,
awesome find mate, is that an origional hardtop for it?
my 80" is a ringpull & my no.06102768 as your no. is before mine
(06101688), so it would of had headlights behind the grill too. Are you able to check the Chassi number? it should be the same as the no. on the bulk head. its located on the top left engine outrigger. a wire brush would help too.
cheers,
Chris
G'day Chris
I got my number from the engine mount. Mine and yours would have been canvas roofs originally. I dont know where this one has picked up the hardtop but it wasnt fitted from factory.

ok cool, you already got the no. from the chassi. no probs.
yea as for the soft tops, i got hood bows with mine. one person i know made his own hoodbows out of Electrical Conduit that galved steel tube stuff. i didnt even know the difference untill he told me that he made them.
i can email you a set of photos i took of a 49 model that i had a look at on the weekend for reference pictures that may help you on your 80" project.
cheers,
Chris.
PS. Did you get your BWD's?
Would love a copy, and yep got the BWD thanks.
Well its been almost a year most of which has seen no progress due to problems removing the steering wheel. Spent today sweating, cursing and injuring myself. But achievements have been made. Guards are now both off. Radiator and support off. Steering wheel off (destroyed in process) and all floors removed. Bulkhead is mostly off. Two bolts to go but they have 60+ years of stubbornness in them so are being left to soak in WD40 for a night. Should have the bulkhead off tomorrow evening then is time to start playing with the chassis and cataloging rust.
Time for a break now.
