They were delisted from the ASX in October 1971.....
ANNAND AND THOMPSON HOLDINGS LIMITED - Company Profile and Status at deListed Australia
Probably delisted because they were no longer a public company with traded shares. They held the Land Rover franchise until 30/6/73. Leyland Truck and Bus Division became the distributor for Qld. and Northern NSW and the Brisbane retail outlet on 1/7/73.
Uncle Ho worked there. He may know the story.
Righto - but I provide a factual timeframe....genuinly interested in some evidence for your date......I cannot find any reference beyond '71..... and perhaps somewhat unrelated, although....A&T related.... can you, or the good Uncle, as knowledgeble folk on all things A&T, answer my question in the SLOW area then? :D
I am sure of the dates as that was when I was employed by Leyland to handle wholesale distribution. Leyland Truck & Bus prior to this was a retail outlet, no dealer network, selling trucks, buses, tractors. We had to set up a wholesale operation and dealer network to handle the LR/RR volume.
A&T were still going in 1975-76 when the first VW Golf was released. I went to the pre-release ****-up.
Moderator Hat On.
This is sounding very close to a personal attack. We don't want them here in the series section.
If you think the information needs clarification, say what you have and don't frame it that you only want facts because the previous member posted urban myth. (paraphrasing here)
Otherwise we will be asking members to cite references from peer reviewed scientific and industrial journals.
It's not what we want here.

Back on the subject, when I first got my ex-RACQ 80" in 2005, I contacted a company in SEQ trading under the name of Annand & Thompson. They were vehicle brokers and had some relationship to either the Thompson or Annand families. They were not a dealer, but arranged the purchase of specific vehicles to customer's order.
Details above show that they were taken over by LNC holdings (Lark Neave & Carter). Some more info on the VeeDub website 1970 - 1974 - Club VeeDub
LNC taken over by Permewan Wright Consolidated in 1984.
I found an Annand & Thompson Holdings still registered. Trading in QLD but registered in NSW, maybe this is the company you referred to Diana ?
