    Question '54 S1 86" Gearbox Mounts

Does anyone know where I can source gearbox mounting rubbers for a '54 S1? I am after a set (2) of the two piece ones. FWD in Vic said they cannot get any for love nor money

If they are not available, what does one do (get a block of rubber and start whittling??)

    Cheers,

    Mounts

Each year at the Bendigo swap meet there is a retailer selling rubber bits, light mounts, engine mounts etc. For the last 3 years he has had sets of mounts off some thing that are the same as the lower large cone bit with bolt, washers and nut the top bit is a little different but looks like it would do. I have only one set left and meant to buy some last year.
Can’t remember the name of the retailer will try to find out.

I saw a range of mounts that looked like it might include a suitable one for the gearbox in a catalogue for Dunlop Industrial Sales, many years ago now. But you might try an engineering supply firm with a good range, they could be available for general machine mounting

    Rubber mounts

Try Mackay Industries. They make a large range of rubber mounts for a lot of applications. They used to have something close .

    **edit**

Heres the catalog from there website. Look at page 58

    Gear box mounts

    Hi
    do not cut your wrist's
any mount that has a similar cross section will do the job
there are 100's of profiles out there that will do the same job
just make sure it is similar in hardness
    cheers

For those that are still interested, I will soon be fitting a set of my pictured mounts to my 80". I will let you know how well they fit. I will have some spare that will be available.

    Aaron.
