				As I mentioned, (in the series vehicles up to late series 3) the car number and chassis number (should be the same) and the axle assemblies, gearboxes and engines share the same prefix number sequence and suffix for the drive position of the vehicle or component.  So if you want to find out what model a rear diff came from punch the number into Classic land Rovers as if it were the Chassis number and you will find out the model.  In the series 2a models you may have to add a suffix letter but what ever letter you use it will give you the information on wheelbase length and drivers side although not year.
