Today i found some copies of the early series 80inch adverts from 1950 thought id share them and post them up for you to all see.
there copies as i dont have the origionals, but still great to have them in your archives. I like the Brockhouse Trailer!

Notice the tread on the tyres in the second and third illustrations.
I wonder if they were really available like that.

Basically a tractor tyre on the land rover rim.I've seen a photograph of an early Land Rover with those tyres on a farm. im pretty sure it was from that Book by James Taylor. it had a brown cover. someone showed me this book once and its a very nice book too!

ok heres 2 more i found. the 1st Attachment by Annand & Thompson in Dec 1950 and the 2nd is an advert by Land Rover in April 1948.
was 450 pounds allot of money back then?

I don't know about the UK, which seems to be where the ad is talking about, but in Australia it would have been more than my father made in 1948 - and he would have been probably a little above average income. I started on pretty much average income only about 50% higher than this in 1962, and that was after severe inflation in the early 1950s.
If it is in Britain, as I expect it is, the Australian pound was worth about 20% less than sterling, and the average income in the UK was even lower than implied by this, so at a rough guess, it represents at least one and a half year's average income.
