    Land Rover upholstery work

    Hi there all

What inspired this post was the lovely re-trimmed seats in the 1948.......I realise you can get the kits from trimming places in the UK.

We have local upholstery places but they dont have much or in fact any experience in doing Land Rover Seats......and they make or break a good restoration

    BUT

Can anyone recomend a good motor trimmer whom sells upholstery kits simular to ex-moor trim in the UK in Australia. I am after some seat kits for the Fire Engine's (in Red)

Also what sorts of cost involved - or do you recomend to spend the extra dollars and get Ex-moor trim to do a special run (as there are red) and make them (sounds like it could be expensive).

I actually got the seats in my 2a (actually out of a S3) retrimmed by a local motor trimmer - one seat back did not need doing, but you cannot tell the difference between it and the retrimmed ones. Admittedly he had fairly good ones to work from, but all the same I think I may have been lucky in finding someone who was used to retrimming tractor seats, and hence did not have a problem with Landrovers. He has also retrimmed the front seat backs in the County, replacing the vinyl sides but retaining the cloth facing, and will soon be asked to do the same to the seat bases and rear seat.

    Hi Wayne,

I have Exmoor seats in the 53 and can highly recommend them.

But although the seats in the 48 may look as if they are from Exmoor they are infact home made over two weekends of painful but no less gratifying work.

You might find the local trimmers are ok as long as they have a template to go off.
