    Scallops '55 86inch: Matilda

    Hello Folks,

Having some loving moments with Matilda lately!

Put some mirrors on her (thanks Lost Landy for the tip) and have begun the cut and polish!

Also took the rust back off the bumper - looks better than before anyway.

'Cos I know the Rules, I've posted some pics....

    The bonnet is polished now.....

Can see the mirrors and bumper here.....

    and here....

I reckon she looks sweet with the tilt off...

It's kind of fun hanging around my shed now....

Yep - one of the first of the finest next to one of the last of the best....

Mirrors look the correct type except that the originals would have been black (including arms).

Yes, I considered etching them, then painting them with black enamel - but Kat wanted to leave them chrome. Once the chrome "goes", I'll paint them, I reckon.

BTW John - do you know what the 5 holes in the chassis front cross member are for, at about the level of the front crankhole? You can see them in the front on piccies.

Looks great - keep up the great work.

As Dinty says - mounts for a capstan winch. If you do a search here on "Capstan" should find quite a bit of information on them.

Looking good Dan. I will have to organise some mirrors for mine now.

It would seem that most of them had the winch mounting holes. My 2 do anyway.
