    Marfa

New addition to the fleet - Marfa (to go with Arfa)

She's a 1957 88 with a running holden 202, bought for parts. Most panels shot (or missing) but bulkhead almost rust-free from what I can see and springs and running gear seem to be in good order.

She seems to sit very high but spring shackles don't seem over-long - could be the 7.50x16s or maybe I'm just used to my others sitting low on flat springs. Huge gap between axle and buffer - what should this be?

Also trying to find out if I can transplant springs from an 88 onto an 86. I have read that the bulkhead has minor changes between the models but fits same, so plan to do this, and hoping I can do same with springs. Does anyone know?

    Anyway - here's some pics

    Cheers

88/86 springs are identical, although I think the ones on the diesel front have an extra leaf or two.

The camber under static load should be just over 3" rear and just under at the front.
(Data from S2 as I don't have an S1 manual, but they should be the same as the 86/88)
