You can buy brake hoses and linings/drums and other brake bits for that model from 4 wheel drives in Melbourne - and they do answer emails promptly which is becoming a rarity Four Wheel Drives - Land Rovers New and Used Spare Parts - Home I found some old imperial size stock PBR wheel cylinder cups at the local auto supply shop... PBR were taken over by a corporate raider and they have got right out of making parts for older cars..they sold off their dies and moulds to a company that went broke ... PBR used to make a huge range of stuff for myriad older marques but those days are long gone . It can be difficult these days, sourcing kits and such.

I'm no longer keen on the company in Blackburn South, there have been some dodgy dealings with second hand parts being supplied as instead of new, and the customer not informed. They were also selling different second hand components on Ebay all using the same photograph of the best one they had.

The good thing about the S1 88" is that most brake components (excluding the brake drums and master cylinder) are the same as the parts off all the later 88" up to and including the SIII models. The difference with the SIII and the earlier brake drums is only the 16M studs instead of the 9/16' ones and with the master cylinder, the SII/SIIA & SIII only have 2 mounting bolts instead of the 3 on the Series one. Many people merely drill a fourth hole and use the later one. The other option, and rather good one, is to have the master cylinder re-sleeved in stainless. Most brake specialists can arrange it and the cylinder comes back with a new kit installed.

I have recently purchased a master cylinder for an SIIB from Rover Parts Plus, in Ballarat and found them both reasonably priced and excellent service.

They list S1 and S2 brake drums and s2 wheel cylinders.

For brake hoses I use ENZED, I take the hose into their service centre and they make one up to the size you need. Takes about 20 mins, even for some specials I had made up.

I'm fortunate in that I drive by 'that company in Blackburn South' at least once a week so I can buy over the counter.
With the move to shifting their stock via ebay and their other company Crystal Bling Australia - Contact I did wonder if they were moving away from LR spares.

Haven't had many problems although it was interesting when I got some S1 rear axle sleeves last year. They were in a box which they removed the sleeve from and kept, I'm guessing the company name was on the box and they didn't want me buying direct.

With a circuit board, do you need to have negative earth? Or did you specify positive earth in the rebuild?

I've had one or two bad experiences with Blackburn... they posted me a crumpled old 2 litre head gasket ... and it was the wrong type . Their new brake hoses didn't last long either ..cracked very quickly ..made from sub standard material I suspect.

Apart from that, it's been OK , although I don't buy from them very much at all...just the odd bit here and there.

I'm starting to become a little wary of that particular parts supplier.
A few wrong bits sent and things in their catalogue not actually being available is starting to be annoying.
Where else for series 1 bits though?
