			Lead Sheeting versus Fairey

					Hey folks,

Some of you might remember me asking advice on shutting up a Fairey overdrive (I know....I know.....) a while back, and also talking about soundproofing. Well, I thought you might be interested to hear about my current experiment. I bought 34kg of used lead sheeting (mostly about 2mm thick) from a scrap metal merchant and used it to line my transmission tunnel (most of the noise comes from around the main gearbox, rather than direcly up from the overdrive, as it gets transmitted through the whole transmission). It has cut down the noise significantly. I may even add a bit more......

Add to this the new stereo I've just installed, and with all that lead and some Springsteen at fair volume....well it's almost like a normal vehicle (though fortunately not too normal).

Yours at 50mph and loving it,

John
