replacing the floor in a series 2a tray

    Has anyone done this?

the floor is rotten in the tray on the back of Miss adventure.

so it needs cutting out and replacing a quick measurement shows the piece needed to fill it is around 1800x1910.... can you even get a sheet of steel that big?

if not what have other done? bought smaller pieces and welded them all together?
although the one we have in there looks like one piece

You can buy them even bigger if you wish.

I presume you have a tray top to repair not the well-body. Contact a metal merchant and you can get a price,

    cheers Charlie

You can buy 8x4 sheets. some places may have off cuts or they can usualy cut them to size. All depends on what you want plain or chequer plate.
One piece is better as smaller pieces tend to buckle when welded.
It may be eazy er to take the tray off to weld the new sheet in.........

DB, you must make sure that the tray is square. Measure diagonally, then if this is not the same from corner to corner, measure down the sides at 300mm intervals. Once you have your measurements take them to your locasl steel supplier. There are a couple around Milperra.

I was thinking but its not square thats shown by the quickmeasurements given...

but then I think I know now what your getting at

You mean dont just go with those measurements in case they cut to that size and its out slightly at one end

once the crap is out of the tray I will measure all 4 sides and across the diagonals as well
