Coincidence about brakes doing peoples head in...I have just completely done my brakes on my Series 2a, New Master Cylinder, 2 out of 4 new Wheel Cylinders and new shoes all round.....Have just bled the system and all wheels seem to work ok....except for one. The front right drivers side.....when I apply the brakes this wheel locks.....until I release the pressure through the bleed nipple... I have double checked everything and compared it with the other wheels and all looks ok...the piston in the cylinder moves freely and when bled...all seems to go ok... Still binds up on the first pump. In viewing the piston when the brakes are applied...it moves forward...but it doesn't seem to pull back a little when the brakes are off......
Any ideas guys...help!!!.....

Are you sure that the brake pipe flexible is not partially blocked?
Aaron.
collapsed flex line or a blockage in the steel pipe itself.
instead of cracking the bleeder, get the brakes on and bound then undo the joint at the pipe/flex hose, if it doesnt come off then it the flex hose.

Thanks guys for the response...I actually noticed the Flexi Hose on that wheel swelling up and down as the pedal was activated....and it looks pretty ratty...I'm sure its going to be that pipe. Will change it and see...
Thnks.

You must keep the flexible lines in good condition. If it looks old, replace it. This is even more of a concern on a single circuit braking system, such as SI/SII/SIIa Land Rovers, as if one brake flexible fails, the entire brake system fails.
Aaron.
G'day Conjames
I would advise that if one brake hose is starting to deteriorate, then the others will be in about the same condition, if it is an ex-army 2a then the replacement hose genuine part number is RTC-3353, same for all 3 hoses, and also now the clutch hosenot sure if that is now the only hose available for all series 2/2a's.
cheers
I have just (today) received 3 flexible brake hoses in a nicely wrapped parcel from the Sydney area.
The part numbers on them is RTC 3386 (BR 0513) for the front two and RTC 3353 (BR 0514) for the rear one (they came as a 'kit').
One of mine sprung a leak while bleeding them last weekend. I was going to grab the ones I have off the 'donor' vehicle but decided brakes are too important to be careless about - so I purchased new ones.
G'day Drifter
Glad you got the full set, I will add that current number of RTC3386 (BR513) to my master parts lists, I gather that the BR No's are Britpart or Bearmachthe raised chassis Aust army vehicles used the rear hose for the front so making parts supply just that much easier.
cheers
Thanks Uncle
That makes sense for two reasons:
1. The Sydney internet supplier (Gary) sources a lot of his stuff from Britmart & Bearmach from all appearances, and
2. as the rear one is the longer one, it would be easier to standardise on the one part.
I note that the parts manual I have lists the following:
Hose complete for front wheels GI 3700628W (2) 268341
Hose complete to rear axle GI 3700628W (1) 268341 (88)
Hose complete to rear axle GI 3700631W (1) 235208 (109)
