Brake Mod: from 88" to 109"

I am about to embark on the full restoration of my 88" Series IIA.

I am well aware of the difference of master cylinders and that the 109" has two slave cylinders per side up front.

My question is: Has anyone fitted 109" system to their 88" to improve the braking? I.e. fitted 109" backing plates, twin slave cylinders and the 109" master cylinder? Or am I just wasting my time.

As this would be a safety improvement, I am keen to hear if anyone has done it to their short wheel based Landy prior to doing this step as it carries a cost & I don't want to throw myself over the front windscreen at the first set of lights.

I did it to my series 2, but I only went to 11" on the front with a non boosted system it stopped well. I have a set of 11" gear on my 2a that I will be converting back to 10" only because now I am a rivet counter.

Ditto above & quite satisfactory but only on the front axle. No way will you throw yourself over the screen. I did not fit a Vaccy booster.

			88-109 brakes

It had been done on mine (front only) when I bought it. It also has a VH-40 remote vac unit. It all works really well and doesn't lock up the front wheels in a crash stop (as long as the rear brakes are up to scratch).

 cheers
