Ah yes a "goze-under" as in goes under the middle seat extremely handy and now very rare item hang on to it and dont lose it! Most of these were removed when vehicles were sold and I presume eventually found there way to the tip after garage clean ups. Or maybe (read hopefully) there is a shed somewhere full of them
Not to be confused with a gazunder.
I had one of the LR variety handed to me along with a pile of spare parts. I was told it was a "spare battery tray." It wasn't until someone described it on this site that I realised what I had. Very useful. Even rarer in the 6cyl version (I was soooo lucky!)

Yeah i think ive got one under the middle seat and one under the passenger seat. And was a 6cylinder.
SOO handy, you dont even realise your using it until everything you own that is important finds its way in there.
I'm really confused just now.
We started off talking about the under seat storage box in the passengers side. I assume this is the standard toolbox that became a battery box in the LR diesels and six cylinders, when a second fuel tank was not fitted as in the military SIIA.
Now we seem to be talking about the tray sometimes found under the middle seat, which has a notch out of the front in the six cyl.
What information are we after?
One of the trays under the middle seat would probably fit under the passengers but would be a little narrow for the job! Also the nut plate to hold the tray in place is also missing from the passengers side.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
If you mean the tray under the middle seat.
I made this back in the 70's been in 3 Land Rovers

Quite easy to make, Handy in a series. Nobody knows it's there, Lockable too.......

Just got back from a week in Vic, so I thought I'd post up some piccies too.
Note, that there were differences in these boxes, between the series 2a and 3, due to the placement of the gearbox. (hence the step in the box, to clear the back of the gearbox)
And these won't fit properly under the passenger seat either.
Nestled under the middle seat:
Showing the step:
I'm guessing the holes around the top edges were for the fitment of a handle of sorts?
And the battery box under the passenger seat is a different beast entirely (as Diana has pointed out)
