Guys
Where is the chassis number on a 2a?
I thought it was behind the rear left spring hanger but I can't find it..I'm concerned I have painted chassis and covered it up which will be annoying when going to blue slip

I usually try with a fine flat file, a points file is ideal and rub lightly checking often.
On chassis with significant surface rusting you frequently only get parts of numbers but enough to reveal the entire number, helpful if you also have the ID plate on the firewall.
In your case DB the paint makes it a little more awkward, first look at a narrow angle to see if you can see impressions of the numbers then wire brush first then file in that area.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

What about rubbing the area with emery cloth until the numbers are exposed?
The numbers themselves can be chased with an engraving tool to clean the paint out if needed and deepen the impression,
