    Windscreen

After all the helpfull info I got from my last post I though I would try another of my problems.
I am now going about in my series 11 without roof or doortops and have recently put the windscreen down. Only problem it bounces around, I have seen a couple of pics of series 1 with some sort of catch to lock the screen in the folded position. Does this exsist for a seroes 11? and has anybody got pictures of this catch so I can make one or if anybody knows where to get them?

    Thanks

    Ron

    Ron,

Pic from REMLR site. There is a small metal loop in the centre(top) of your windscreen for the strap shown in the pic.

Is that what the strap is for?

Most of mine have never had it and the pommy ones were much longer.

I suspect this is a local modification. Neither of the wheel carriers on my bonnets, or the windscreen, has a loop for a strap.

OTOH, the FJ40 I no longer have used to have spring hold-downs for the windscreen when lowered. I still regret selling it, it was a very nice vehicle.

Well, I'll be a festered chooks breakfast, Is that what that hook is for. I looked at it a few times and thought it may be something for the bonnet tools or extra spare wheel tie down point. BTW, did all the S2 have canvas roof tie down hooks on the rear panels above the tail lights or just the soft tops?. Ralph has a hard top with the hooks but I am thinking of making him into a soft top when I restart the re-build.

I guess it's a reverse engineering thing the Japs do so well.

The Series 1 Land Rovers with soft tops all had screen hold downs of some type but the SII and onwards didn't.

Toyota had it on the 40 series but AFAIK it too disappeared on later models.
