Hi Gerga
These ex-Army workshops are coming out of the ether everywhere!
Do you know the Army Registration Number? (You can find it in the ARN lists on remlr.com.
Welcome!
Diana
Hello all , I have been reading threads from this forum for a while and thought it was about time that I introduced myself . If I have done it correctly there should be some pics of my 2 landys below . I aquired the wagon about 6 months ago and started the restoration . I guess I caught the inevitable bug because I recently aquired the other L/R . I believe it is a 2a workshop . A lot of bits are missing and it looks a bit rough but it runs well and I have every intention of restoring it to as close to oringinal condition as is possible if I can find the bits . The wagon will probably become a donor for some of the generic parts . I will no doubt have a heap of questions that will need to be answered during the project(s) but at this stage I just wanted to say g'day and share some of the first photos with you guys .
Gerga .

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Ooooo!
A wide light workshop.
Someone will correct me but I think there were only about forty made.
Very rare.
Welcome to the forum. Next step, join REMLR.
The Registry of Ex Military Land Rovers. Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere.
Gerga,
welcome to the forum.
Where abouts are you located as there is bound to be someone close that could help. As Diana said, REMLR.com can give you abit of info if you have your chassis number and as Mick mentioned, they only made 40 workshops in 1971. I note yours has a chain box at the front (not to many around) as well as what appears to be an "in service" fitted hard cover over the rear platform.
Can you post up your chassis number (found on the lefthand rear spring hanger) ?
As far as I can tell the ARN is 178-053 . The Chassis no. is 25335431G . I am in North Queensland . Any information that is availble on this vehicle would be greatly appreciated .
What is involved in joining REMLR and how do I go about doing it ?
Just fill out a form and post it off to Richard. Job done.
Another place to register on is
Military Vehicle Collectors Australia Inc.
Get to know the people on these sites. Some are a wealth of information.
I bid on a widelight workshop on ebay earlier this year but I was outbid by a fellow on this forum.
Gerga,
your ARN works out right. It was a 1971 Shop Equipment Truck (census 6037). It's original engine should be 25351475K and was disposed of from the Army on 29.04.86. All this info is from the REMLR site.
I have 2 (of the 40) late model workshops and 1 of them has the same hard cover (over the rear platform) as yours. The wide light reference is to where the headlights were moved into the gaurds from the raidiator support panel. IIRC, this happen around 69/70 for Army 2A's.
As far as joining REMLR is concerned, follow the link Mick put up. Fill out the form and send it to Richard (phoenix). No cost involved for registering you vehicle/interest and the info on the web site is also free thanks to a few dedicated soles.
More pics would be great if you have them.
No problem , I'll get those details to Richard soon . The original engine is no longer in the chassis unfortunately , the engine no. now is 25119476a . Is this an older engine than the original ? As far as I can tell so far this engine was probably made in the early 60's ?
your engine number does not appears to be military, but there are some numbers fairly close that put it around 63. The letter on the end indicates a major mod or design change. "251" makes it 2A and the last "a" means very early in the model range
