Thread: 2A 109 EX-MIL EXHAUST??

G'day All, Trying to get a quality fit engine pipe is a problem, I bought 4 from Andersons Hervey Bay Qld about 6 years ago, they might still have some.
The S2A 109 fitted with twin fuel tanks has the intermediate pipe running along the inside chassis rail and through at least one on the chassis X members, up over the rear diff and mates up to a std L/R muffler exiting out RHS rear just behind the wheel, hope thats of some help cheers Dennis

Try Four Wheel Drives in Melbourne. 03 98900509. They have the whole lot or any part. (Four Wheel Drives) About $250 for a WHOLE 88/109" exhaust, fan to rear. Plus $25 freight or so. Ian

Do we know if the military and civvy 109s take exactly the same exhaust setup from exhuast manifold to tailpipe?

G'day All, in aword No they don't, the S2A military has 2 fuel tanks, 4wds will supply you a intermedaitte pipe which will go out under the fule tank LHS, cheers Dennis

Called 4wd and dropped by there on my way past. Turns out the guy who knows how it goes together is away for another week so I guess I have to wait unless anyone knows an alternative?

Although my 2a GS has extractors,I have a flange joint to the intermediate pipe,(easy pipe removal for head repair etc.)the inter pipe turns about 25 deg,then up over the front gearbox X-member,close to the floor,(heavy rubber conveyor belting recommended for mats)then straight through the X-member holes that are close to the chassis side rails, I have my muffler mounted between these, then out to the rear one doing a 45deg turn to the right and exit behind the right rear wheel,if it is a genuine military 2a chassis there should be exhaust pipe mounting brackets welded to the side rails,the centre mounted muffler(free flow) gets it up out of the way and protected by the chassis, I didn't have any pipe when I got mine it just hung down, but I got a piece of fencing wire and bent/traced where it should go


NOTE: I would recommend that you fit a 2 inch (50mm) system as by reducing the exhaust size was the way that english manufacturers reduced BHP to suit UK rego costings. and the increase of pipe size will make the motor breath better, "Sonic" used to mamufacture extractors for 2.25 litre Landrovers,
