When I took the bits off the engine prior to sending it away for a rebore, I was careful to note what parts had gaskets and what type they were.
The distributor, for example, had one paper gasket where the distributor adaptor mounts to the block (noted as 'C') and one cork washer where the distributor slides into the adaptor (noted as 'D').
As per the attached picture.
My gasket set, however, has 2 that fit where the distributor adaptor mounts to the block; a paper one and a thin metal one.
Should I ignore the metal one?
Can anyone explain the reason why there would be 2 in the kit?
I would be inclined to use the paper one; however; having said that, nowadays I reach for Loctite 515 in preference. If you use the metal one you will need sealant on it anyway,
