problem is i will have to paint them
so i called in to a clients business, ASAP Aircraft Spares in Caboolture (07 54280567) and picked up a can of zinc phosphate primer.
these guys have some pretty interesting things for aircraft from many eras including WWII etc and some can come in pretty handy for us land rover owners as well.
BA screws and nuts, BSF nuts bolts in high tensile and steel and many other little interesting bits and pieces..
Tell them dave the computer guy sent you

Madge had her first official outing today
the MVCA meeting @ Brennan Park on Bribie Island
got my good wife and i there and back with relative ease whilst serenading one and all with many high pitched noises from the rear diff.
in preparation for the trip i modified an lt95 gear lever boot to fit the lever on the toro overdrive. went well and beats the hell out of the thin leather boot that was there till now. fitted quite well in the end.
also fitted the smiths heater while i had a second set of hands available.
the rear diff is very very sad and will be coming out this week to be swapped over with one of my spare units. (makes a good heater tho!)

replacement diff center fitted over the last few nights.
sounds immensely better
did 45klms @ 95kph in it to try it and the diff was warm when i pulled up in the driveway...
lets hope it hangs in there

busy day and a half spent on madge.
million other things i needed to be doing but i needed a spell from them, so..
started by pulling the back springs off to check the bushings etc and ended up swapping the back springs around and bolting them back up as things appeared to be relatively fine.
found a cracked shock absorber bottom mount plate so will need to order one of them when i get time
went over the front suspension checking things out and tightened everything back up and checked over the chassis for cracks etc etc.
and finally fitted the 140 decibel siebel horn i had tucked away.
fitted it with a fused relay and changed the wiring so the horn button makes an earth to the relay and doesnt carry a live load all the time.
is loud! is good!
about to have a shower and go for a casual drive to wind down ...

spent a wet sunday making a mess of my front verandah much to the wife's delight (not!)
refurbished my soft top windscreen.
removed the glass, cleaned the frame and using a tube of urethane, resealed and refitted the glass as best i could.
made new aluminium strips for the new rubbers for the door seal and fitted them up.
hopefully it will be water proof

received my little package from paddocks today
new drivers side door lock assembly and a new lockable t handle for the hard top back door.
the upshot is Madge is lockable!
as lockable as a landy gets that is
ordered stuff from craddocks the same night....
still haven't got the final price for the order yet much less received it
like pulling teeth if you want to use paypal it seems...
