G'day All, Land Rover rear sideways facing seats were an optional extra, they are about, 110's even had them LOL cheers Dennis
Looking to purchase my first Landrover. And I really like the look of the swb models. But before going to far down the track a quick ?
Can you fit rear seats in a swb landrover 2 or 2a ?
Thank you for your help in advance.

Thanks for the quick reply Dinty.
My many concern is that i have two young kids still in car seats and want to make sure that they can come to.
I wasn't sure if you could put a bench seat in like whats in a Jeep wrangler.
Has any one done something simlar ?
Fury,
If you had a bench seat put in it would have to be engineered and signed off along with suitable child restraint points. You would probably need to speak to someone who can sign off this type of modification and get their recommendations first.
In VIC you can legally have child seats mounted in the front of a 'UTE' (not sure about other States) but you would still have to get a bar put in for the child restraint points, this should also be engineered and signed off.
Even in a LWB you would have to have the child restraint points put in for the second row. I had to fit one in my Defender and get it signed off some years ago.

In most states I believe that children aren't allowed in sideways facing seats before the age of 12, or so I've been told. Also can't fit child restraints on side facing seats. Not sure how much room there would be to fit forward facing ones in a swb though?

In S.A., if the vehicle is registered under the historic vehicle registration scheme, and the child is over the age of one year, then they are allowed un-restrained in the back seat, or in the front seat if there is only one row of seating.
