And the wrecking yard with the truck with a Cooma name on the side. Looks as if he's from somewhere down in the high country.

Good to see p38arover is on the job and correcting the "it's a jeep" "no it's a landcruiser" experts!!
One comment, good work ron.
What a mouth full
Looks like the A497 Landcruiser training vehicle that was stationed at Laverton Airbase from May 11th 1953 to May 13th 1953 (left at about 4.15pm) and bought buy the Hughes Bros. who had a scrap yard just off Sydney Road in Coburg until first one, and then the other brothers died and then their son took the lot up around Kyabram and then stored them there from the mid 70's through until late 2009 when they auction off around 1105 lots, which mind you the auctioneer went through straight without so much as a cup of tea, of which this was one of them. I think the A497A, which was the trailer was lot 417 whereas the vehicle itself went off at lot 822 which itself I found quite odd. Oddly lot 416 was the altimeter out of a Spitfire trainer that was based out of Tocumwal during WWII which just goes to show the diversity of not only the Hughes Bros purchasing habits after the second world war but also the diversity of items for auction at the Kyabram auction. This very diversity brought in buyer from all over the place looking to find hard to buy genuine parts as most of the planes of WWII were sold only under the condition of them being scrapped that was of course until they made an amendment to the sale clause which allowed the planes to be sold under the condition that they were only used as static display. It really wasn't until the Avalon base decided it would start to rebuild... oops I think my wife just called me for lunch
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
