    Rear Brake Protection Plate

    Hi All,
    Me again!
    Restoring my 1961 Series 2.
The brake line protection plates at the rear of the car.
Are these plates connected to the actual leaf springs?
Or are the plates connected to the actual diff?
Or are the plates simply sandwhiched between the leaf spring/diff?

The reason why I ask - mine need a clean-up (sand back to bare metal & paint with a rust proof paint). Do I do this with them on the car? Or do I wait until I remove the leaf springs and do it then?

As always - any help is greatly appreciated!

    Your apprentice,
    The Grey Ghost!

Mine are sandwiched between leaf spring and diff housing, just line up the locating hole and keep it square to the spring

As jerryd says - they are sandwiched between the axle housing and the spring. You could remove them by taking the weight off and loosening the U-bolts enough for the plates to clear the centrebolt.
