Last weekend I started the removal of paint from my S2a 88 with the aim of taking it back to bare brushed alloy. She's pretty straight in general but the left door was an obvious repair and when I dabbed on a bit of stripped I was met with more putty than paint!
The alloy is torn in spots so Im going to track down a replacement instead of attempted restoration.
Question for the combined wisdom of the group....will an S3 army jobbie fit my 2a (ad below)?

Anyone got a LH door up for grabs? I've posted my wanted ad on here.

I think the door will fit but the hinges may not and this might lead to complications with holes in the panel that are unwanted.
Have you searched the suppliers to see if a new skin is available?

I kind of like this look carby.
I concur on the hinge and check strap issues, also the other consideration is the door lock type, if the series 3 was fitted with anti burst later type door locks they are a different setup and will have extra holes for the lock cylinder too.
Looking at the ad for the ex army doors the price seems a little high for series doors, the last set I had which were fair to average condition paintwise but structurally great, sold for $50 or $60 the pair (sorry I don't have any lying around) but if you are only after the skin it shouldn't be too hard to find a good door that will suit your purpose, and probably not much $$$. You could even try reskinning it yourself if you can bend and cut alloy sheet. I've heard of this being done before too.
Skins must be available, I have one at home waiting to be fitted to my bare aluminium S11a. Mine came with the vehicle, so I don't know who the supplier was. Sorry, I don't have pictures of mine, but it is not up to the standard of the one you posted.
Cheers, Mick.

I have seen Series 3 doors fitted to a 2A, the hinge and door lock holes should line up, but you will have to weld a fitting for the 'check strap' thingy from your old 2A door. I fitted anti-burst door locks to an earlier model once and all I had to do was drill a hole for the key tumbler, the holes all lined up, so going the other way just find a blanking grommet. Or just fit anti-burst door locks, you only need to change the striker. I did it after my old type locks wore and would pop open on bumps, as they will close without being fully 'home'.
