do you mean the rear of the engine to match up with the gearbox? the rear as in stud pattern for the wheels, rear as in diff propshaft bolt pattern? bit more info will be helpful

Matches the four cylinder petrol. Block is the same part number from memory.

its my belief that the rover 4 petrol and diesel have the same block.
not to sure about the 6 but i think it may be the same

Hi Mick.

The 2.6 six cylinder flywheel housing has a different bolt pattern where it mates to the bell housing of the gearbox, than the 2.25 4 cylinder flywheel housing bolt pattern.

The 2.25 Diesel and petrol share the same block and crankshaft, but not flywheels nor the flywheel housing as there is a difference where the starter motors bolt on and the diesel clutch is also heavier than the petrol.
The bolt patterns are the same however for both petrol 2.25 and diesel 2.25, where their housings mate up to the gearbox bell housing.

I have my eye on a 2A LWB ute and it has a Holden motor in it.
It's a pretty straight clean looking rig as it's been sitting in a farm shed for years. I assume the original engine was a diesel as it has the
"Rover Diesel" badge on the grill. I can recall back about 40 years ago when I was a kid there was a diesel ute like this getting around locally...it always seemed to be popping and farting as it chugged down the road.
I think it is probaly the same vehicle and somewhere along the way someone has dropped a Holden into it. I would like to convert it back to original and drop a diesel back into it...but if I cannot get one then a 2 1/4 petrol is the next option. Hence my questions.
