    Well i put some oil down the hole that the yellow lever pin goes in and it hasn't worked yet but i've noticed that I can get it into 4 High by dropping the red lever into neutral and then pushing the yellow lever down and it stays down and you slip it back into gear and off you go but it wrecks the whole point of the system that you can put it into 4WD on the move. Does this help describe a problem at all. I think the dust cover is still there, I had another look and theres a seperate tube over the shafts.

    That does sound like it is sticking - could be a broken spring, which would give the same symptoms, but sticking is more likely.
