    brake light switch part number

    Hi all,

I need a new brake light switch - hydraulic - for my 58 SWB. original part number seems to be 268963 but I can't find any listing.

So will it be a standard part that I can buy at a local parts / brake place?

or this says a IIA - is it the same??

    Part number: STC1689
    Applicable Models:
    Land Rover Series 2A, 3
    Product Description:
    Hydraulic, brake light switch.
    S/S 560775
    Thread 1/8 NPT x 27 TPI

will this fit ??? anybody know what size thread is likely in the 58??

    thanks
    Steve

I just did a search on the STC1698 number, and the info you have on the bottom is correct (They also referenced the 560775 number as well). And the pic is the same as well.. So if you order the STC1689 part number you will get the correct one. And you should be able to get it at any LR part places.

I did a search on some of the supplier sites here, and none of the part numbers came up. Sounds like getting it from the UK is the only option..

It's nice to be original, but the hydraulic switches have been associated with numerous electrical fires in series Land Rovers.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

I have cheecked a couple of sites & they have the same part for a Series 2 & 2a so I'll give it a go.
