Tell them that it's a Series II Defender!
Plenty of good Series panels about and even chassis repair sections.

						G'day folks
The boss had some old chook take out the rear drivers quarter area the other day.
Lets say i am not happy, she is rather calm and we all know what that means.
Anyway, Racv said to get a quote from a specific panel beater who plain refused the job stating its too hard as soon as he saw it was a series 2 not a series 2 disco. (didn't even look at the damage or leave his office)
so, We are in Preston (inner north ish) melbourne and are after an insurance panel beater to replace said rear quarter area. and exhaust needs fixing too.
Recommendations?
Or places that will take on an awesome job and repair "bertie" to his shiny awesomeness.

3 panel beaters, its too hard!!!
first one said parts and its hard.
found parts from uk
gave prices in gbp plus postage.
2nd said too hard and too much bog. (please idiots)
3rd said no problems but i can't fit it in for 6 months.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR...
Do the claim yourself, use the quote from the beater who'll do it in 3 months, lodge that with the other parties insurance company. When they pay the claim, buy a good second hand tub pop off the gal capping and take it to a spray painter for colour match and painting.
The removal of the tub will take a couple of hours, then you repair the outrigger and re-paint and re fitting the tub will take another 3 to four hours.
You may even make a profit.

Thats how its looking at the moment.
Since when were landies hard. well apart from all the electronic stuff now.

Since the blokes who did their apprenticeships in the sixties and seventies, when they were common, retired! Landrover lost their dominance of the utility market around 1970 - which is forty-two years ago. If someone finished their apprenticeship then, they would be close to retiring age by now.

						Parts changers.
Over glorified parts changers.
A local panel shop is excited about doing it. Said he has been looking for a challenge and an interesting job. (he has a 90" and a 130" fender)
Legends.
