    Removing the head on 2.25

Gday all, I'm looking for a bit of advice on my series 2A 88" 1963. I am trying to remove the head (due to water in the oil) to get it looked at by a head specialist in Adelaide. I am having trouble getting the head bolts out. I am up to getting 6 removed at the cost of my shoulder and a half a days work. Is there an easier way???!!!!! Any help much appreciated. Regards, Will

I've never had a problem getting the bolts out, although this will depend on the history of the engine. What i have found to help, is to remove the LH front mudguard - it enables you to get a lot closer to the engine, and hence less strain on arms, shoulders, back etc.

What JDNSW said I always do the mudguard removal trick depending which side Im working on at the time Makes it SOOO much easier. They put the motor in and built the rest around it! or so it seems

I used to take the bonnet off, or at least tie it back against the windscreen and then sit up on the guards when doing the head.

Although I did see a front guard removed once to service a brake master cylinger while on a weekend trip
