Thanks John, that makes logical sense. (Thanks Diana as well, but I'm hoping not have to pull the GB just yet )
Would you happen to know the dimensions of the clevis? I've found the part number (536803 - clutch cross shaft clevis pin) but the only stockists seem to be in the UK, and it seems a bit excessive to get them sent all the way from there if they are a standard size.

When you say 'hardened' is that equivalent to getting a 8.8 bolt with high shear, or is it a different scale?

    Cheers

No, I don't know the diameter, I would guess 5/16", but that is only a guess! It is several years since I have been there. I would expect them to be available from one of the local suppliers (probably more expensive, but not a lot anyway), and in any case, since they are so small postage should not be very much.

I don't know what scale, or how hard they are, but I do know that mild steel does not cut it!

I would think that it is possible to get a set of calipers on the protruding end from underneath, certainly should be possible with the floor out.

    Hope this helps,

    John

A phone to call to my bro in the UK and there are 2 pins in the post for me
I knew he'd be useful for something one day.

One little thing missed by all..... Land Rover fits the front propshaft the other way round. The rest of us fit it as shown in the photo to prolong the life of the sliding joint.
