    Newbie 1972 2A SWB

I have just purchased a short wheel base Land rover series 2A 1972 the last of the british land rovers (not leyland) this is a Australia delivery with only 2 owners next to me , the land rover is going but needs a new battery, new carb kit and seats.
The land rover is a del to Australia in 1972 and has not been changed in any way, just requires a little restoration and some TLC, the landy has no rust.
The land rover has orignal engine and all fittings, their are some panel dings but not damaged to bad and the seats need replacing.
I'm looking at either doing a full resto on the vehicle, or using it as a hunting platform, I like the idea of the restoration though. It seems that parts are easily found and reasonably cheap. I'm also lucky enough to have a buddy who owns a smash repair business and has offered to help in the panel work and paint areas, anyway I'm sure when i get to needing some advice with the project, there will be someone here who can help. I will take some before photo's and show the progression of the work
    cheers
    George

Welcome along George. You're sure to find plenty of people keen to offer advice when needed (and sometimes when it isn't ) and I for one am keenly looking forward to your restoration project. You don't need a hunting platform, and if you do you'd be better finding a LWB S2a with a Holden conversion done. No sacrilege in beating up one of those but if your shortie is all original then it deserves looking after. Just IMHO of course.

I would go down the restoration path if i were you. As you said there are so many dealers selling parts and a lot of them are quite reasonably priced. oh and welcome to the forum
