Hi all, i have just purchased front door seals, from paddock spares, these seals came in 1 long length, has anyone had any experience with this type of door seal, ie fitting them, either by rivet or glue, as there is no holes in the seals, any pics would be good,
Many thanks

The original seal has a slot in it for a metal strip to be inserted into, did the one from Paddocks have the slot ?
If it has the slot :-
The steel strips tend to rust out so you would have to find steel strip the correct size then drill through the strip to match the holes in the body, insert in the seal cut to length then push holes through the strip and pop-rivet in place
If it doesn't have the slot or you want an easier option :-
Cut to length, glue in place with contact adhesive.
The seal can be sourced locally from Scotts Auto Rubber or Clarke Rubber.
There are some details in this old thread

If you don't want to go down the riveting path, use Sikaflex 11fc adhesive. You can get it from bunnings. I found the contact glue didn't stick the best and all the seals fell off after a few months. The Sika sticks like s$&@ to a blanket
Cheers Simon.
I didn't do the strip bit... just pop riveted them on.... Seems to work well enough. Although you can't be too rough while your doing it or they will pull off.... with a bit of glue under them I think they'd go well.
O no! What about when you want to change them again (if you have used glue....) you'd have to clean off all the glue! Yuck! I hate cleaning.... I know just sell it when it needs doing! that way you only have to fix everything else :P

Most, if not 99.9% of Land Rover door seal supplies will give you Britpart seals.
The original seals had a metal strip inside, you can still get the original seals but there 50% more expensive, but they will fit better.
And the seals for series 2 land rovers are different to the seals on series 3, and late 2a land rovers.
Juddy,
Which version are the locally made seals (from Scotts & Clarke Rubber - link below). I need seals for my Series 3 and wondered whether they are the correct profile. I also need to fit seals to my Series 1 but wasn't happy with the seal profile part number 260.011 on the page below.

Any chance of a sketch of the different profiles ?
Thanks,
Colin

260.011 is the right profile for Series 2/2a, but I can't remember whether Series 1 is the same, I suspect not. And just because it looks right does not mean that it has exactly the right dimensions, either. For my 2a I have found the ones from Clark Rubber better than the ones from Four Wheel Drives.
