X MEMBER CLEARANCE SERIES2

was wondering if someone (probably rocket! )could tell me why the bellhousng /x member clearance is like minimal if not nothing ?i have jacked up both front of motor and rear of gearbox and not found any signs of a broken mount ,is there a way to adjust the mounts on the body/motor/gearbox as i think this mite be contributing a slight bit of body noise? :?

that is too close

i have seen many conversions that do come that close.

all you can do is pack the mounts with shims where needed and get a happy medium if you can.

On a similar topic, my front engine mounts are too high, is there an easy way to lowwer them? I'm hesitant to get thinner parts for fear of the vibrations cracking the engine mounts. Am I better to get lowwer engine mounts?

X-member clearance

Hi Ferno
Sounds like you may have the wrong engine mounts in the front, there is a difference between the petrol and diesel, the 21/4 petrol front mounts are P/n NRC 2054 (round steel/rubber/steel,) the rear mounts NRC2053 (round steel/rubber/steel, slightly smaller dia.) the front mounts can be used in the rear /g'box position, the diesel mounts are usually square and not as tall to better absorb the diesel vibrations, with the correct mountings you should get at least 1/2 inch between g/box and x-member these mounts should be approximately 21/2inches high from memory
