    Slipping clutch

    hi forum

    My dearly loved 67 SWB in original condition has a slipping clutch
    I've tried flushing out the housing with little improvement and I guess will have to think about a little surgery!

    I guess this is an often asked question, but to change the clutch on this old girl, should I try to wangle it out through the floor, get stuck in from underneath, or pull out the engine and box together

    I'm kind of considering the latter because this will give me to opportunity to clean the block, sort out the engine bay etc

    Any thoughts?

    depends on what gear you have to do it with.

    you can change a series clutch without removing the engine or the gearbox, you can just seperate them and support the gearbox from under the bell housing and a beam through the doors with arope through the access panel under the center seat... (still have to drop the rear prop and uncouple the front at the slip joint tho)

    As Dave says. I replaced the clutch in my 2a in the middle of the Simpson Desert in 1966 by moving the box back.

    If it is a soft top it is relatively easy to remove the box from above, depending on the condition of body bolts.
