    Steering Relay for Series IIa

Has anyone overhauled a steering relay before? I have just put my one back together after replacing the seals etc but I'm a bit confused about the functional test of it. In the manual it mentions a pull of 12-16 lbs needed to turn the shaft. My question is: is this figure the amount of pull needed to get the shaft moving, or the amount of pull needed once the shaft has begun to turn?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

It's the pull required to start the shaft moving, there should be little difference between the cracking and rolling resistance.

    Hi Richie.
Just make sure that the relay arms are NOT at 90*
