That's interesting about the PMG and quite exciting that you've ended up with one by the looks. Well done

Thanks Cobber, its great to find a bit of history for the old girl. I'm certainly glad I joined this site! I saw an old post on here from Shonky who put some pics of PMG vehicles from back in the day and someone mentioned the cups around the tail lights which mine has as well so I'd say its a pretty sure bet.

If it is yellow/gold as a complete re-paint this could have been a re-paint while still in PMG hands, to Telecom gold, but mostly the vehicles were sold off in original PMG red.

Yeah well the yellow is on top of the red and is all over and appears professionaly done. It sort of looks like egg yoke colour, on top of that is a paint brush job grey lol. Thanks for all the help I really appreciate it and hopefully it might help some others as well. I've gotta pull finger and get her up to scratch, but as I say she runs like a dream and thanks to a couple extra earth straps the lights and blinkers work all the time instead of sometimes now haha

    interesting car you have.
yours has the same tail lights as mine and I have found a supplier on ebay that still has a few new old stock lamps left for sale, if you need to replace them.

Thanks Harry that's good to know. Do the tail lights have a special name?

I notice mine are wipac S.170 if you can post a link would be great. On another note one of my spare diff's has these power lock hubs, just wondering if anyone has experience with these? I'm happy enough without manual locking hubs so I don't know what I'm doing with these yet,
    Cheers

The Wipac tail lamps were standard equipment from about 1967 to the end of SIIa production. I personally prefer them over the earlier (or later SIII/Defender) Lucas or Sparto lenses mainly because they have a larger lens area and therefore more noticeable (isn't that what you want for rear stop/tail lamps?)

Powerlock or S.U.E. hubs are something I would be getting rid of. Outside the problems of FWH, the SUE hubs have a two half moon cams (inside the slots you can see) that engage into a star shaped flange connected to the axle halfshaft. With both half circles to the outside, the star can turn inside the housing unlocking the hub. With either or both of the half circles turned in locked the star from rotating engaging the hub. The problem is that with only one cam locked all the weight of the drive was on a very small area of the housing and the housings were well known for failure. They are also an excessively large protruding hubs vulnerable to damage from rocks and gutters.

My recommendation, chuck them and fit original flanges. (They would not have been fitted by the PMG,)
