Well got my act together and started the rebuilt on the engine, my mate is helping me and I discovered yesterday that he'd got OCD
Every nut, bolt and washer had to be degreased and the run through the wire wheel and then put into individual tubs all day I was at it! We have checked and inspected everything ready for assembly, all mating faces have been levelled.
We think that this will be ready by next weekend!

I would say having OCD is a very good thing when it comes to rebuilding an engine! You are on a winner with a mate like that.
Should be a top little donk when it is back together and running.
Cheers, Mick.
Whilst the original comment was probably said in jest; it is not a case of OCD, but rather a case of doing it properly!
Dirty, stretched, dry, or damaged threads, will not tighten to the required tension and expensive failures can occur later.
Don't spoil the ship for a half-penny worth of tar! :)
Nice work!
Cheers Charlie
Yep he's a good bloke, ordered the steel and alloy gears from the oil pump due to wear, as he said the oil pump is the heart of the motor and we want this engine to go for another 60 years!
Bit of an update! Saved up and bought 5 new tyres, wallet is lighter but I needed to get them as the diffs will be ready soon and needed the wheels to fit the diffs. Also tried to het cork gasket to make seals but couldn't get the right thickness I ended up buying a new crank seal and the two gaskets on line!
Should be a roller in the next few weeks :)
I have just been having a look through this thread. Looks like this vehicle is going to come out absolutely top-notch (nothing wrong at all with a bit of OCD on important stuff...). It also looks like you have a lovely workshop. I'm rather envious.....
Sunday afternoon, nowt better than assembling an engine, should have it all boxed off for the end of the weeks!
