    QLD registration

I was speaking to a guy at the department of main roads QLD and he told me that I will need to prove that the car was previously registered in QLD if I want to renew the registration. I have no paperwork or previous registration number. How do I do this?

Do the QLD registration department have the chassis number or engine number on record?

Er, if you are re-newing the rego that tells me it already registered?? Or have I read it wrong.

Or, did you de-register it some years ago and are now wanting to re-register it??

Or have you purchased an unregistered car??

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. The land rover is new to me, is not registered at the moment, has no paperwork or compliance plates, but I want to get it on the road again.

Series 11 and 11a don't have compliance plates. They have chassis numbers and Nomenclature plates. Look on the firewall above the gearbox tunnel, it should have a plate the has the chassis number. OR look on the left hand springer hanger for the chassis number. I have no problem registering Series vehicles in QLD with just chassis numbers.

I registered my 68 SWB last year. It had never been registered in QLD previously. I just filled out the registration forms, provided proof of purchase and the safety certificate.

They took my money in exchange for a set of plates and we drove off, with me having a grin of relief!

Not sure that you can renew it if it hasn't been transferred to you, which requires a safety certificate as part of the transfer.

The chassis number confused them a bit, wasn't long enough but they eventual copped.

    Good luck.
    Cheers

All you need is a safety cert. No need for any proof of purchase, they only require the Safety Cert. Been there with this info 3 times, well to my local QT Branch
