    Change to S2/3 tub tray

    Hello,
The current tray on my 109" series 2a although it looks good, is not practical so I am wanting to change to a tub tray from a Lwb series 2/3.

    Current tray:

I have gotten a quote from British Off-Road for a tray from there parts yard and the labour to fit. This is the tray they can provide -

To me it seems very rough, and I would need to get it painted in the correct limestone to match.

I would also be keen on opinions on the tray potentially being provided by British Off Road.

    Thanks
    Finnegan

    Will a long tub fit?
Your car looks like a shorty, 88 inch?

Not an 88". If it was, the front edge of the back tyre would be right where the cab ended - just 5" past where the door finishes. Shorties are really short.

You should be able to find one in better shape than the BOR one.

Why do you find the existing tray not practical? For the last fifty years or so utes have been moving from tubs to flat trays because they are more practical for a lot of purposes. You may even be able to sell the rear lower cab that is replaced by the tub for more than you pay for the tub - or do a swap.

Certainly your existing tray needs sides and a tailgate, but wouldn't these be easier than replacing the whole tray?

    Can do better

    Hello from Brisbane.

I tend to agree with John about the practicality of tray backs vs tubs. However, that is personal choice in a free world.

The tub in your photo from BOR doesn't look like something I would want to work on any time too soon. You can do better (and probably more cheaply) if you keep looking around for a while. You might try Harry and Carolyn (Ho Hars) for something suitable - last time I was there they had a few 109" trucks lying about their inventory.

Incidentally, I have nothing against BOR - deal with them regularly.

    Cheers,

    Neil

    in short, no.
here's two pics, first is levuka when I rolled it, broke a spring at walking pace! but nothing fell out as I am a bit serious about tying a load down.
second is perhaps why the spring broke. if it ain't loaded to the top, it ain't loaded..but the bloke I bought the firewood from wouldn't let me pile it any higher..

Just a reminder. No buying/selling in forum. That's why your original post was edited.
