Can never soak em too long

So i asked around today and it seems the 9.5 inch clutch is the same for petrol, diesel and 6 cyl s2a landys. That is the diaphragm spring type cover. Im lucky i have the right clutch. Cant afford a new one. So ive fitted the clutch now and centred it. Torqued up the bolts. Good. Happy now. Gotta clean up the manifolds now and fit them. Later...

So last night was in so much pain took some really strong pain killers. Result is i didnt get much sleep, as usual. So in my half awake half asleep state i was thinking about the crank shaft endfloat. I managed to borrow a dial gauge and i had 8th. Too much. So went to PCB land rovers and got some 005th oversize thrust washers. Fitted one new one to the main thrust side. Wasnt able to fit the other one. So i fitted the best std one to the other side. Torqued tbe cap down and checked it. 004th. Perfect. Refitted the oil pump. Just waiting for new conrod nuts. Reconditioner who sized my new gudgeon bushes said just reuse the old ones. I got a bit anal so im fitting new nuts now, when they get here on Monday. Then ill refit the sump. Hope i sleep better tonight.
Cheers Rod
Got my new conrod nuts and sump gasket today. Fitted new nuts. Refitted the sump. Stood the motor up and trial fitted an 80amp vs v8 alternator. Made a bracket to steady the lower mount. Bolted it all up. Really good. Took some pics. Happy with that. Might strip the paint of the fan as it reacted with the undercoat. Looks weird. I had painted the fan yellow. Might have to get a different colour.

Just noticed the shop supervisor sneaking a look
I think it is OK, but check the alternator cannot hit the chassis - there is not a lot of spare room.

Thanks JD. Ive had it fitted to a petrol engine before in the same spot. Just thought i should put the extra strengthening bracket on the front due to the diesel's notorious vibrations.
Gday Rod I also purchased some big end nuts but to me they just looked like a normal nut. The ones I removed and kept were the LR ones similar to a nylock but with a metal sheath.
What did your new ones look like ?
Cheers Paul
They looked like normal nuts. I was a bit worried. If they fail i'll be making a claim. Wasnt impressed really but they are what were supplied by a land rover parts supplier.
