Hmmm .
DaOot has indicators at the bottom while Matilda has them on the top.
Watching with interest.
Were the series 2A's and later of the series 2's sold in Australia required to have the front indicators above the parking lights?
Unless I am mistaken, nearly all that had the lights arranged vertically have the indicators on top, yet the UK and South African vehicles seem to have them arranged in the opposite, with the indicators at the bottom.
Cheers, Mick.

Have noticed a lot of landrovers the same colour as Gilbert have the indicators above the parkers.

I've noticed a trend that all Australian assembled vehicles seem to have the park lights on the bottom. I'm not sure if it was a 'down under' quip or notIt applies right through to the Perenties.
I'm sure someone will prove me wrong though.
Pretty sure it was an ADR thing?
Indicators on top, or outer edge. Keeps them more visible from external angles.
Turn indicators were not required (and in fact not legal) on vehicles during Series 2 production, although it may have come in in the last year (1961), so any fitted to Series 2 will be after market. My Series 1 which I owned in 1962-3 never had blinkers and I had no pressure to fit them, but I did fit them to the 1958 Series 2 I bought in 1963.
My first 2a, a 1961 model was the first car I owned that came with them, but since I bought it in 1965, the may well have been fitted aftermarket.
However, I suspect that most Australian 2as up to the 1967 revision of the electrics had them fitted by the dealer, and that which went on top and whether they were vertical or horizontal was a local decision.

The ADR on indicators states that the rears must be above or outboard of the stop/tail and the only requirement for the front is that if horizontal they must be outermost. Nothing about vertical. Have no idea when this came in though. And Im only going on what a MR inspector told me at a truck inspection, which could be porkiesand this is in QLD

Hi Mick, my 67 2a has the indicators on top as does my s3. The s2 doormobile i seen they were side by side as they were on a s2 that one of our club members has that was imported from uk 25 yrs ago. (The green one in the line up). Hope this helps ya.

My 1958 has the glass lensed side lights so high up that nothing would fit above them. It does have dealer fitted indicators very closely below the side lights (nasty little square things) including the "original" aftermarket stalk.
Cheers,
Lou
