Question Transfer case gasket, silicone or paper?

    Howdy all,

Maybe I haven't owned the Landy long enough. But the transfer case underside gasket. I have cleaned it and replaced it 2 time and within a couple thousand kms she leaks, not profusely but enough to stain the driveway.

First question, is this typical? (Like the transfer case to handbrake drum seal leak)
Or am i meant to torque these bolts?

Or should I make a cork one try another paper paper or a silicon gasket? Or any other advice is good also.

(I also tried aviation sealant on the gasket last time.)

I went cornflakes box for the top inspection port gasket and that seems to hold fine

    Thanks

    Opinions then please...

When you buy the gaskets as part of a kit, they are only a pretty thin brown paper/ card type material. I've used a very thin (literally just a wipe) smear of Locktite Black Max oil resistant gasket sealant on all the flange to flange joints (swivel ball to axle casing etc) on the front axle.

Just over the top or not advisable?

    Cheers,

    Lou

apart from its not the traditional goop to put on a gasket thats the right thing to do of non compression activated goop impregnated gaskets.
