Thread: Heater tap cable

Continuing on with my voyage of discovery as I bring back to life my 64 2A (and moving on from the seat belt mounting), I am now redoing all the cooling system.

I removed the old heater tap last night which involved having to remove the rocker cover so that I could turn the tap around (tap located on the back of the head) The old heater tap cable is a solid core cable. The old heater tap did not look original and had "Natra" stamped on the side.

The new heater tap is per attached photo but the end of the cable looks like it needs be similar to a bicycle brake cable with a knurled end.

What's the solution here? I googled heater tap cable and it does not produce the answer I need.

I had the same issue with my S3 heater cable.
I couldn't find one in Australia and solved it by drilling a hole the same size as the cable into a piece of solid brass bar stock. The bar stock was the same size as the hole in the heater tap arm. Then srewed in a small self tapping screw into a drilled hole to intersect the wire and "clamp" it. I bought the brass rod from a hobby shop.

It hasn't fallen out yet.

Maybe this'll fit, but I don't know. If my memory is correct, I think they were also used on the throttle cables of the earlier Victa mowers, so might also be available from mower shops.

Bit more research and I found out that Landrover called them trunions!
