    Rear Main Seal

I am chasing a good quality rear main seal/seal kit for a 2.25 petrol. I want to avoid using the usual lesser quality one that is readily available. I have checked with the local Bearing Service and they have tried three of their suppliers and they all come back with the same story, "no longer available!" Anyone have any suggestions please?

    Cheers, Mick.

    G'day Mick,

Likewise I like to use OEM when available. (suspect original seal is made from Viton because of the operating temperature at the back of the engine.)

Turner Engineering in UK have the original 542492 Pioneer Western kits:

    542492 Rear Oil Seal Kit

Also check with Roverparts.com.au to see if their OEM is Pioneer Western.

An unlikely place to try is your local Covs (if they have them where you live).

My local store owner is a pretty good bloke and he has previously measured seals for me and while he didn't have them in stock, he managed to locate them (or quality replacements) for me on a 5 day turn around.

TE doesn't stock parts for my engine...

    Cheers,

    Lou

    Sorry Guys,

Bit of an import myself, so not entirely across which companies are national and which are state.

I did mean Coventry's who have recently started trading under the Covs banner here in WA. Doesn't sound like they're over east then...

    Cheers,

    Lou

    Thanks Lou,
We did have Coventry Fasteners here that became Universal Fasteners and are now called Konnect! But they are predominantly bolt and nut specialists.
