If it had the Rover six in it, then it will have a different bell-housing to suit.
You will need to change the housing, to fit the 2 1/4 litre engine,

Have a look at post #6 http://www.aulro.com/afvb/series-i-l...al-number.html
If correct it is likely to be a 1958 gearbox which is when the Series I finished & Series II started.
Colin
Had the chassis been butchered in order to fit the Rover six?
Cheers, Mick.
Thanks will check if it had a rover 2.25 housing on it here it is https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/im...016/09/230.jpgheres back of the 6 https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/im...016/09/231.jpg
Sorry mick Chassis not butchered just had extra mounts welded just forward of originals just cut the welds they fell off still had original mounts there which makes life easier for refitting 2.25 later
You will need another bell housing as the two and a quarter has a bolt at 12 o'clock, so a different bolt pattern.
Cheers, Mick.
Thanks mick will add to list just when U think U nearly have everything u need more
Something for consideration.
I know the 2.25 and 2.6 flywheels are much the same in weight!
Are they the same flywheels? Will they interchange?
Will the 2.6 flywheel housing bolt onto a 2.25?
Does the 2.25 and 2.6 share the same starter motor?
Hopefully someone on here will have more idea and maybe even have tried it.
If they are interchangeable you may not need to source parts.
Cheers, Mick.
Thanks mick I not sure it all work does look a little different found a bell housing to suit and is on its way
Ok since everyone is doing chassis work thought I would do a little myself namely finish removing the mounts someone welded in for the rover 6 and refit a top to battery/air cleaner mounts as it had been chopped off https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/im...016/12/278.jpghttps://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/im...016/12/279.jpghttps://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/im...016/12/280.jpghttps://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/im...016/12/281.jpg
