Front axle code B on my 2a

Front axle Code is 901 I.e., 88in rhd. Suffix is "b" which My research reveals means - "inner hub bearing change 1972". Studs are the larger (m16??) type as opposed to earlier thinner type.

My S3 109 front donor brakes unit (meaning everything from swivel ball to hub cap) actually has thinner studs which confused me a bit.... So I am wondering if I can just take the brake backing plate and all other brake parts and swap over the hubs to ensure all wheel studs are the same.

Both my 2a and the donor s3 are 1972 making them right on the cross-over between models and parts are a little all over the place.

I think you can - but all S3 should have the larger M16 studs. As with swapping anything between Landrovers, you can never be sure what you have; someone could have already done a swap twenty years ago. The only certain thing is to pull a hub off each and check - the only things that changed, as far as I know, is the bearing sizes (about 1980) and the stud size (about 1971), which you know about.
